The Pest:

Fleas, along with ticks, bedbugs, louses and other tiny insects are blood-sucking parasites that are common all over the world; they are a nuisance and pose a risk for people and animals. Fleas penetrate homes mostly via other animals and can leap quite far, passing through different hosts. Fleas spread many diseases and their sting causes itching that leave marks on the body, redness and at times may cause allergic reactions.

In general, the initial recommendations are basic – in order to prevent the presence of fleas, for instance, periodic vacuum cleaning of carpets, upholstered chairs and the "rest areas” of domestic pets must be performed. You can be referred to have your pets undergo special animal treatments, using designated substances in authorized clinics. Eventually, pesticide will be an option, using I.G.R ingredients (Insect Growth Regulators) that damage the insect's development process at its early stages.

We do not recommended using spraying as a preventive action against these parasites since the ingredients contained in it are volatile and do not withstand long periods of time. Moreover, in case an infected animal infiltrates your environment and wanders around, the infestation will be present as well, regardless of prior pesticides; the pesticides' effect will be lost. In order to maintain pest control effectiveness, pest extermination and preventive measures must be conducted on the animal by a veterinarian.
